The purpose of Senior Care Options is to assist appropriate
utilization of long term care services covered by Medicaid. It is designed to ensure
that nursing facility placement is the right option and that all possibilities are
explored. The program will:
- Help older Nebraskans find the right care at the right time.
- Allows older Nebraskans to live independently for as long
as possible.
- Save taxpayer dollars by making Medicaid more efficient,
If a Medicaid eligible person requesting long term care services
meets nursing facility level of care they have three options.

They may want to explore options for staying in their own home with community services.

They may choose assisted living, if available.

They may choose nursing facility placement.
If a person does not meet nursing facility level of care, alternative
services may be available to assist with their needs.
