The Aged and Disabled Medicaid Waiver is a service system based
upon the belief that people with care needs should have options for receiving services.
After thorough needs identification and service planning, eligible persons are offered
the choice of receiving home and community based services, assisted living, or entering
a nursing facility.
Individuals who are 65 or older may be eligible for the Medicaid
Waiver if they:
- Are eligible for Medicaid.
- Agree to participate in needs identification and choose to
accept support services.
- Have needs which would require them to live in a nursing home.
- Can be safely served at home at a cost not more than Medicaid
would pay for nursing home care.
This waiver allows Medicaid money to be used to purchase the
following services that are not usually considered “medical”:
- Adult Day Health Care
- Assisted Living
- Chore Services
- Home-Delivered Meals
- Independence Skills Management
- Nutrition Services
- Personal Emergency Response System
- Respite Care
- Transportation
