Nebraska Public Transit Week is an opportunity for all Nebraskans to show support for their local transit system and to experience the benefits of public transportation for themselves.
History
Nebraska Public Transit Week has been dedicated to raising awareness of public transportation across the state for the past nine years. Public transit is an essential service in Nebraska with over 4.7 million passenger boardings in 2022. Transit providers traveled almost 10 million miles to get Nebraskans where they needed to go.
Governor Pete Ricketts proclaimed Nebraska Public Transit Week in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Public transit providers will celebrate the 10th year of Nebraska Public Transit Week in 2024 from April 21-27.
